I HAD NO ONE I COULD CALL AND TALK TO. I HAD NO ONE FOR support. I had no one for advice. We were in a new area. I had no friends, and I stood alone.

I sympathized with my husband’s condition. I love my husband. We were married twenty years at the time; we’re going on twenty-six now. I’m going to stand with him, whatever happens. . . . But we caregivers are going through things, and we feel like we’re responsible for these individuals emotionally, mentally, and physically. Where’s our support? We’re not professionals. We haven’t taken one single course in this field, and yet we’re supposed to handle these crises all alone.
